Weekend Review – Round 14

It was another super Saturday down at the snake pit and 4 tough games ahead for all the cobra sides.

The Colts started the day taking on the ladder leaders Kwinana. A big task was ahead for the young colts.

They started well in the first and went in quarter time only 3 points down. The second quarter Kwinana got on top kicking 6 goals and taking a handy 27 point lead in half time.

The Cobras pegged the lead back in the third quarter and went into the final quarter 17 points down.

This is where the young colts never give up attitude paid off as they fought hard and managed to slot the winning goal to come away with a 2 point win. A great achievement for the boys to knock off top spot.

Cockburn 10.5-65
Kwinana 9.9-63

The seniors both took on Roleystone with the reserves first up who managed to grind away all game and come away with a 7 goal win to maintain top spot.

Well done to club legend and Life Member Doug Searle who put on the boots for the first time in 10 years to play with his son Jayden a very special moment not too many are able to fulfil.

Cockburn 8.9-57
Roleystone 2.3-15

The league game was 1 vs 3 and the cobras wanted to get revenge on the 3 point loss earlier in the year to Roleystone.

It was a fiery contest all game with plenty of fireworks during the game with a few cards being given out.

The cobras managed to pull away after half time and come away with a solid 53 point win to also hold onto top spot.

Cockburn 12.9-87
Roleystone 3.6-24

So it was down to the thirds to complete the clean sweep for the club by making it 4 from 4 which would be a first for the club.

The thirds took on Osborne Park our rival for many years now. They too wanted to get some revenge on the earlier 3 point loss in the year.

It was a low scoring affair with the cobras down by 2 points at 3 quarter time, Another close game was on the cards for the boys and it was another last minute goal to the cobras to put them in front and complete the clean sweep for the club.

Cockburn 4.5-29
Osborne Park 4.2-26

Well done to Dermie and the thirds who notched up their 2nd win for the year. It was great to see so many players stay back and support the thirds in getting over the line.

It was a fantastic day for the club and a great achievement for both the colts and Thirds in their tough fought wins.

Later that night the club hosted it Horse Racing night.
Thanks to all the player and supporters who came down for the event and supported the club.

Well done to Rowie for organising another great function, Thanks also to Pengo for helping out during the night.
